Jaguar C-X16 - Crowned Most Exciting Car of 2012

Car buyers also get their say at the What Car? Awards, and you’ve voted the stunning Jaguar C-X16 as the most exciting car to be launched in 2012.
 
From a shortlist of 15 cars due to go on sale this year, Jaguar’s rival to the Porsche Cayman was the clear favourite in our exclusive online poll. The C-X16 will be unveiled as a production car at the Geneva motor show in the spring and will go on sale by the end of the year, with prices expected to start at around £50,000.
 
Ian Callum, Jaguar's celebrated Design Director, accepted the award from What Car? Editor-in-Chief Chas Hallett, who commented: "The concepts have looked terrific and we're all looking forward to trying the production version on the road."

He's right. The C-X16 promises to be the most driver focussed Jaguar coupe in years. With an all aluminium structure and performance figures including a 0-60mph sprint time of just 4.4 seconds, there's a lot of hope that it'll not only go as it looks, but deal a bloody nose to Porsche at the same time.

And that's not all Jaguar has us in suspense with. The C-X16 is currently being shown off at the Delhi Motor Show alongside that other stunning Jaguar concept, the C-X75, which has been confirmed for limited run production. 

Subaru’s new sporty coupé, the BRZ, has also caught your eye, securing second place in our poll. The BRZ, with its promise of great handling, sleek looks and £25,000 price, has clearly struck a chord with whatcar.com’s readership.

So, too, has the Dacia Duster, which came third. Why is this Indian-built, Romanian SUV exciting? Simple: you get a lot of car for less than £10,000. It’s truly a car for the times that lie ahead.
