First Look at the new Peugeot 508 Saloon
Peugeot recently released their new executive model and 407 replacement in the guise of the 508. With the previous recently released models such as the RCZ, 5008 and 3008 things bode well for the French manufacturer.
For the first time they’ve released more diesel engines than petrol as the drive to produce greener, more economical models becomes more competitive – with the 508, Peugeot seem to have hit the nail on the head this time.
The most popular model will probably be the well equipped fleet targeted SR which comes with 16” Alloys, Bluetooth Phone prep, Cruise Control, Sat Nav to name but a few and with the leasing companies setting high residual values, rentals will be £269.99 for a 3yr 10k contract - this is sure to be seen as high competition for VW Passat, Ford Mondeo, and Vauxhall Insignia as the 508 has been built from scratch where its competitors have just been revamped.
Whilst the 1.6HDI SR model above only produces 124g/km, Peugeot are keen to make themselves the choice of company car drivers and have driven this down even further with the 1.6eHDI Access EGC model which only produces 115g/km. For an average 20% taxpayer the will result in £41pm in BIK.
The top of the range 2.2HDI GT model which will come equipped with Nappa leather, colour sat nav, xenon headlights and 18” alloys as standard still only produces 149g/km – still well below the dreaded 160g/km level that so many fleets look at.
