The Price of Glass

Drivers and fleet operators have seen a big rise in the cost of replacement windscreens and even insurance premiums with more sophisticated technology in modern cars. According to Auto Windscreens replacement costs have increased by as much as 68% in the last decade. Whilst we all enjoy the benefits of larger windscreens, heating systems and solar reflection there are still a few things you can do to minimise the risk of damage and large bills:

  • Get chips repaired immediatley before they become a costly crack requiring a full replacement
  • Replace Wiper Blades every 6 months to avoid damaged blades causing scratches
  • Always use proper screen wash for topping up
  • Always use a conventional ice scraper otherwise you risk damaging the glass
  • Never pour boiling water or apply heat to frosted glass
