BMW GreenFleet Awards 2009

BMW have won fleet car manufacturer of the year and the industry innovation award for its EfficientDynamics technology. Held at London's Guildhall, the awards featuring 23 categories were organised by GreenFleet magazine. The other winners of the night included Fiat's 500 which won city car of the year and Electric vehicle of the year went to the Mitsubishi iMiEV which is currently being tested by the police force as a city patrol vehicle to try and lower their carbon footprint.

Since 2000, BMW has invested more than £1 billion in its UK operations. As well as a total contribution to UK GDP of over £2.5 billion and 55,000 jobs, the company is working hard to limit its environmental impact. Independent research has found the winner to have the lowest average CO2 emissions of any premium car maker for the second year in a row.

The introduction of their EfficientDynamics technology has led to an incredible financial and environmental saving. Already it is estimated that they have saved more than 33 million gallons of fuel and a reduction of 373,000 metric tonnes of CO2 in Europe.
