Aston Martin Cygnet

Aston Martin has entered into a joint venture with Japanese giant Toyota to create the ‘Cygnet’ which is based on the Toyota iQ. Details are scarce but it is expected to share the same 3-cylinder petrol engine as the iQ, along with 4 seats and will boast a 5 Star NCAP safety rating which is exceptional for such a compact vehicle. Aston Martin have tried to incorporate as many design features on the Cygnet as you would usually see in their super car range, all squeezed into a car which is 3m long. Inside you can expect the same attention to detail as you’d see on a DBS, Leather interior and an ECU (Emotion Control Unit) which replaces the key ignition system and slots into the dash board.

Unfortunately Aston are currently limiting the sales to those who already own one of the prestige range they have identified that nearly 30% of current Aston Martin owners have other small cars such as Mini’s and Smart’s which are used for around town. Now the company is giving them the chance to buy their own luxury commuter.

The Chief Executive Dr Ulrich Bez released this statement “Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this bold step to embark on this special project – made possible with the support of an organisation of Toyota’s stature and capability and the intelligent design and perfect city car package of the iQ”

The car is expected to commence production early 2010, the models have not yet been released but if you’re an Aston Martin owner and would like to know more please contact us for further information
