Workplace Parking Levy

Nottingham Council has made further noises that it plans to proceed with it’ controversial workplace parking levy which will force businesses that provide 11 or more employee parking spaces to pay circa £185 per year per bay.  It doesn’t end there either with proposed plans to upgrade the city’s public transport which will see the levy rise to around £350!

Some types of parking will be exempt i.e. disabled, customer parking loading/unloading and limited business visitor spaces and although nothing is confirmed before the council discuss it again in September it has already received DFT backing to be implemented from 2012

The BVRLA is lobbying against the charges as an unfair tax on business which it believes has less to do with reducing harmful emissions & congestion and more to do with generating revenue and we all think it will result in driving businesses out of areas where it is introduced.
