Audi are due to launch the latest member of their family in October this year and it will slot straight into the A5 range – namely the A5 Sportback, and will sit in the increasingly competitive B segment.
The A5 Sportback mixes all the styling presently seen on the coupe and convertible models but has all the practicality of a 5 door vehicle. The vehicle has a sleek roofline, frameless side windows, and a big sloping tailgate.
Initially, the A5 Sportback will be available in a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines, with the manual transmissions featuring a 6 speed gearbox and the start/stop system. All the engines meet the EU5 emission standards so will prove attractive to fleets.
The luggage volume of the Sportback is 480 litres which nearly equals that of the A4 Avant and it has an impressive 980 litres with the rear seats folded. The Audi A5 Sportback provides a full measure of comfort on all four seats and convenient entry and exit through every door. Despite the fact that its exterior height is less than that of the Audi A4 Saloon and that its roof tapers at the rear, the Sportback has comparable headroom and legroom.
