Duty of Care

The Legal, moral and financial obligations on employers to ensure a safe working environment for its workers and others. Applies to “driving at work”, just as much as in factories, building sites or offices. Generally expressed through the Health & Safety regulations. It should be noted that employees owe a Duty of Care to each other and to the company: everyone involved must have some ownership of the issue to ensure zero or the lowest possible number of incidents.
    It should also be noted that the duty of care exists for “the working environment” there is no distinction between what is required (by employer or employee) in terms of vehicle ownership. The act of driving company cars and vans, rented vehicles, pool vehicle ownership. The act of driving company cars and vans, rented vehicles, pool vehicles and employees’ own cars, whether normal domestic or supported by some form of employer scheme (ECOP, PCP or cash allowance) on business must all be considered on the same basis.
