Miles Per Gallon (MPG)
The main unit to express the actual fuel consumption of a vehicle. Simple to calculate from the total number of miles covered on a known volume of fuel – for example if the car or van covers 400 miles on 10 gallons of fuel, it achieves 40 mpg.
